AMARILLO, TX - More Amarillo residents continue to be frustrated as people dump trash in their neighborhood.
Monday, we introduced you to some Hamlet residents upset over a situation they called dangerous. It turns out that community is not alone.
"It's like we are trash. Like we don't matter or deserve clean alleys." said Forest Hill resident Joanne Shield.
Shield moved into her home about a year ago and tells NewsChannel 10, the Forest Hill neighborhood continues to be a dumping ground for used tires.
Resident Taylor Reese has two small children.
According to the dad, he continues to dispose of tires and other trash. Wednesday, NewsChannel crews saw him pick up a needle.
"I'm at a loss for words. I don't want them growing up in an environment like that." said Reese.
NewsChannel 10 went to the city to see how the frustrated residents could get some help.
"Every property owner is responsible for keeping their property clean. In the event someone is dumping property that is a crime and it should be prosecuted. But ultimately until you find the perpetrator, its your responsibility." said Amarillo City Commissioner Dr. Brian Eades.
Dr. Eades suggests to call the police.
"The only thing the city can do is help homeowners investigate." Eades tells NewsChannel 10.
While Shield is doing a little investigating of her own, she is asking everyone to be on the look out and help clean up the neighborhood.
"We need to be respectful of each other and each others property." said Shield
If you notice anyone dumping tires or other trash, call Amarillo police at 378-3038.
