Texas students without new textbooks

Posted: Updated:

Texas - Some Texas students may be starting classes in the fall without textbooks.

The Texas Education Agency says a delay in state funding for textbooks combined with the reconfiguring of an online ordering system will probably postpone the arrival of new books into September.

That is causing concern as public schools start classes the end of August.

State officials say the new system will eventually ease book buying, but many school leaders are upset they won't have their instructional materials on the first day of school.
