LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) - The Los Alamos wildfire is reported 27% contained after burning 123,563 acres or 193 square miles.
Around Los Alamos, high temperatures and strong winds resulted in active fire to the west and produced significant smoke Monday.
Fire managers say easterly winds prevented the fire from spreading to the east.
Meanwhile, the Sandoval County Fire Department will be escorting land owners to Cochiti Mesa Tuesday. The burn area is described as hazardous and only property owners are being allowed in.
And the Los Alamos National Laboratory is set to reopen Wednesday after the wildfire forced it to close.
