Amarillo, Texas - As more and more people line up to get help beating the heat, many of them are having to be turned away.

For the fourth year in a row, 211 is collecting fans to give to people who can't afford to stay cool. The problem is... There aren't enough fans to give to everyone who needs them.

As of Monday morning, they gave out the last fan they had, meaning everyone else has to be put on a waiting list until more fans are donated. They're in desperate need of box fans, which run around $15. 211 is also accepting money, so they can then go out and buy fans.

You qualify for the fan if you are over 65, on disability or have kids younger than two. Paul White with 211 says, "People have to bring in proof of eligibility. They have to live in Amarillo or Canyon, so we need proof of residency. If they have a child under two we need some sort of proof the child is actually theirs."

If you'd like to help out, or you need a fan, you can call 211.
