Fires in the Panhandle

MOORE COUNTY: There is a fire burning in Moore County. According to the Moore County Sheriff's Office the fire is east of Pioneer Plants near Highway 287 south of Dumas, east of Masterson.

The Texas Forest Service says the fire is moving North and is threatening structures which may be out buildings or buildings related to the oil business in the area.

UPDATE 7:30 PM: We have heard an explosion has occurred on Highway 287 between Moore and Potter County.

The explosion happened seven miles south of the fire was according to officials was not caused by the fire.

The fire has jumped the fire line so to better fight the fire the Texas Forest Service has brought in 2 Single Engine Air Tanker's and an air attack aircraft to drop retardant.

RANDALL COUNTY: A fire is burning south of State Highway 217 and east of Washington. The Randall County Sheriff's Office says those in that area need to evacuate as a precaution.

According to scanner traffic the fire is moving towards the east.

UPDATE 7:30 PM: The fire is now 90% contained. The Randall County Sheriff's office says one outbuilding was destroyed.

Three firefighters did suffer minor injuries. Two had heat exhaustion and one was injured when a window broke on his truck, cutting him with glass.

The cause is unknown.

UPDATE 8:30 PM: Certain residents are being allowed back into their homes. The Forest Service says it is based on the location of their home compared to the fire line.

POTTER COUNTY: A fire is out in Potter County after a truck started on fire. Officials say the vehicle malfunctioned prior to starting.
