Fire continues to burn in Randall County

Posted:

Randall County, TX- The fire burning around the Ceta Canyon area is now around zero percent contained.

The fire was considered 50% contained early this morning but after the wind changes, the fire is said to be out of control.

Firefighters have faced many challenges while fighting this growing fire.

One of the biggest problems according to Danny Alexander with the Randall County Sheriff's Office was a lack of communication.

There has been  trouble getting in touch with the crews fighting the fire.

"This ones been kind of difficult because of the wind changes, it was blowing out of the south and west yesterday (Tuesday) and now it's out of the north so we never did get everything put out last night because of where it was and because the area was too remote, we couldn't get apparatus down there," says Alexander.

Fire crews are expected to stay out there throughout the evening and hope to have more air craft flying through the area Thursday, to drop retardant to help contain the fire.
