New Mexico judge bribery

NewsChannel 10

New Mexico - Special prosecutor Matt Chandler of Clovis says he plans to seek approval today of an arrest warrant for a southern New Mexico judge.

The first hearing in the bribery case against Judge Mike Murphy begins today but it's not clear if he'll appear in the Las Cruces courtroom.

The judge is accused of telling a potential judicial candidate that she needed to pay a Democratic activist if she wanted a seat on the bench.

Chandler has released a report implying the practice was common and that payments were funneled to former Governor Bill Richardson.

Richardson calls the accusations outrageous.
