Campaign hoping to reduce teen injuries

AMARILLO, TX - A new campaign launches in Amarillo, hoping to bring safety awareness to teens clocking in to work this summer.

According to insurance officials, more than 60 Amarillo teens suffered from workplace injuries in 2010.

Texas Mutual Insurance and a host of area companies are hoping to combat those numbers and help keep the rate of teens getting hurt on the job down.

With the launch of "One Wrong Move", campaign officials urge Amarillo youth their lives could be changed with one simple mistake.

"Pay attention to the safety rules, don't go beyond what you are instructed to do. Ask questions if you are not sure what you are doing. Don't take unnecessary risks. With everybody working together and watching out for each other, we have a greater chance of reducing these accidents," said Steve Bills with Texas Mutual Insurance.

You can expect to see ads around town reminding kids to be cautious, along with radio commercials.
