The first laptops running Google's Chrome operating system will hit stores next month.

The company says the first models will be priced from $350 to $499.

Google also says it plans to offer laptop subscription plans to students and corporate users for around $20 a month.

The new operating system will be based around web-based applications and cloud computing.

The laptops will reportedly have a six to eight hour battery life and boot up in eight seconds.
