Cold Case File: Thomas Vaughn

NewsChannel 10

AMARILLO, TX - An Amarillo business owner is severely beaten to death and nearly ten months later police have yet to make an arrest in his murder.

53-year-old Thomas Roy Vaughn was found beaten to death inside his Fort Williams Military Surplus and Supply Depot on North Williams in July of last year.

"I think he was targeted and watched. He kept a rigid schedule about when he got there and what he did there. It's a great chance he was targeted. You hate to think he walked in when someone was committing a theft crime and all of a sudden goes that brutal." said Lt. Gary Trupe with Potter-Randall Special Crimes.

In the past ten months, detectives say they have interviewed friends and neighbors of the business owner, but have not been able to come up with a viable suspect. The store, which has been closed since Williams' death, is located in a residential neighborhood, so investigators believe someone may have seen something suspicious when Vaughn was murdered.

If you know anything about Thomas Vaughn's murder, you are urged to call Potter-Randall Special Crimes at 806-378-9468. You can also call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400. If your tip leads to an arrest, you can earn up to a $4,000 reward.
