Texas - The House Ways and Means Committee has approved a tax break for Texans who want to buy yachts.

The proposal would cap the maximum sales tax the state would collect on the sale of a personal boat.

Supporters say the measure is needed because many Texans travel to other states with similar laws to buy their boats.

Democrats say they are outraged at a proposed tax break for a luxury item, at a time when Texas must cut $27 billion in state services.
