Amarillo, TX- Job seekers in Amarillo will soon have a new resource to gain and update their skills.
It will be at the Amarillo Public Library downtown location, and it's aimed solely at helping job seekers find employment sooner.
When it comes to unemployment, Amarillo is doing pretty well with the second-lowest unemployment rate in the state.
Despite that, Stacy Clopton Yates, the library's public relations coordinator says the new program is important because it will help visitors build career enhancing skills, which in turn will help decrease our unemployment numbers.
"People can use the lab to polish their resume, to submit online job applications, or to prepare for an interview. We have a lot of resources on our web site that are available to help people as their searching for jobs, but we're excited to offer the lab, so that they can do that with a little help and a little guidance," says Clopton Yates.
The library says lab participants need to have basic computer skills.
The lab is open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The lab opens Monday, May 2nd.
