Amarillo, Texas - There was a big effort Saturday to help those who are hungry right here in the Panhandle.

The Amarillo Art Institute hosted it's Empty Bowls luncheon... Local artists designed 250 bowls... They were each sold for $15, and then filled with soup.

It was all to raise money for hunger problem in our community.  The Institute's Executive Director Morgan Phipps says, "You just never know when that could be you, I mean you never know when it could be us or someone you know. With the economy the way it is jobs are just gone like crazy and its sad to think that there are people out there without food".

They hope to raise several thousand dollars... The 250 bowls themselves total $3,700, before any extra donations.
