Massive Fire destroys homes, injures firemen in Curry Co.

Clovis, New Mexico - A massive wildfire in Eastern New Mexico is 70 to 80% under control as of 10pm after burning for more than five hours Sunday.

Three Clovis firefighters were injured in the blaze... Their conditions are not being released. Fire crews are  mopping up hot spots near Clovis.

The fire destroyed at least three homes and forced dozens from their homes near the Roosevelt County line... Burning 17,000 acres.

It started between Melrose and Floyd after a vehicle blew a tire and sparks from the rim landed in nearby grass. 

The city is closing down the shelters... If you still need help you can call the Red Cross at 575-309-4917.

Roads are back open now and people are being allowed back into their homes.
