Amarillo, TX- Officers continue to investigate a shooting that put an Amarillo man in critical condition.

Tuesday night officers were dispatched to the 54-hundred block of Dumas Drive on shots fired.

They say when they arrived the victim wasn't there and neither was the suspect.

Investigators say Christopher Preciado was found near Amarillo Boulevard being transferred in a personal vehicle to the hospital.

He was shot once in his chest, and is suffering from a life threatening injury.

The suspect, who witnesses say is a Hispanic male, fled the scene.

"We have several people that are up there, the detectives are in the process of comparing the statements of the various people involved to try to get to the bottom of exactly what happened. It's always a process of gathering what people say and comparing it to the physical evidence," said Sgt. Brent Barbee, with the Amarillo Police Department.

Police say two people at the scene were arrested for charges unrelated to the incident.

A witness we spoke with says one of those arrested may be the victim's sister.

If you have any information about this crime or the identity of the shooter you are asked to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
