Amarillo, Texas - Hundreds of Panhandle job seekers are hoping an event will open the door to new career opportunities.

There was something for everyone at today's job fair at the Civic Center in Amarillo. Entry level to professional positions were on tap at all kinds of companies.

90 employers and a couple thousand job seekers were in attendance, but this ratio has greatly changed. Mollie Barney from Workforce Solutions says, "A couple years ago we had 136 employers and 2,000 job seekers, so that's a good way to gauge our economy and how it is right now. More employers were hiring back then. Now, fewer employers are hiring, but there are more job seekers."

Many companies were handing out job applications and interview appointments on the spot. Big name businesses like Affiliated Foods and Insurance Management Services are filling multiple positions. Some are looking to hire right away as well, which is good news for those unemployed.
