Amarillo man recovering after being shot in the head

Amarillo, Texas - An Amarillo man is recovering in a Lubbock hospital after police say his wife shot him once in the head.

They tell NewsChannel 10 they responded to a possible shooting call in the 1400 block of NW 10th around 7:30 Sunday morning. They did not find a victim at the scene, but were told that a family member took him to the hospital for his injuries.

Officers arrived at the hospital to find 30 year old Stephan Risley shot once in the head. Police say he was alert and talking to the officers and the medical staff. He was uncooperative with investigators as to how he was shot. He was then flown to a hospital in Lubbock for further treatment.

Officers were led to a home in the 1400 block of N. Jefferson where they found evidence of a shooting including blood spatter and bullet holes. There they arrested Risley's wife, 19 year old Ticely Maxwell on outstanding warrants not related to the shooting. She was booked into the Randall County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to a Potter Co. Grand Jury at a later time.
