Large fires burn across the Panhandle

Amarillo, Texas - A large grass fire continues to burn this Saturday evening near the Moore/Potter County line.

It sparked around 2pm about one mile east of Highway 287. Early estimates show at least 3000 acres burned.

Several agencies are responding... Including Crawford Ranch, Potter County, Moore County, Sunray, Dalhart, Channing, Hartley, Cactus and the Texas Forest Service.

There are no reports of injuries. There were a few voluntary evacuations for a couple ranch homes south of 152.

There is also a fast-moving fire near Tucumcari, New Mexico along Highway 54.

It has already burned several thousand acres, and it is threatening several homes, but those homeowners have already left the area.
