Dumas, Texas - An area town is seeing lots of changes and people are taking notice. Dumas has been named one of the "Top 100 Micropolitan Cities" by Site Selection Magazine, for its economic development.

In the last year, many new businesses have come to the area. A new dialysis center, pharmacy, new hotels and restaurants, and a runway expansion at the airport, are some of the services making the community more self-sufficient. Mike Running from the Dumas EDC says, "As the economy grows and more dollars come into the community through property taxes and sales taxes, we can improve on those services and create a better environment. That will allow us to live without assistance from other options and other areas."

These businesses are bringing more jobs to the area as well. Running says the population is growing significantly and traffic has really picked up.
