Hard landing in Texas Panhandle leaves 4 hurt

CANADIAN, Texas (AP) — Four people have been slightly hurt in the hard landing of a small plane which blew a tire when touching down at an airport in the Texas Panhandle.

The Department of Public Safety says the victims sustained minor injuries in the accident Monday at Hemphill County Airport at Canadian.

DPS says a 1981 Cessna flown by 66-year-old Ronald David Rouse of Hotchkiss, Colo., blew a tire, the plane became airborne again, then it made a hard landing on the runway and ended up in a field.

Authorities say seven people were on board. Four passengers were transported to Hemphill County Hospital, as a precaution.

Canadian is 90 miles northeast of Amarillo.
