UPDATE: Tucumcari double homicide

TUCUMCARI, NM - Local law enforcement agencies are on high alert searching a person of interest in Tucumcari's double homicide Thursday.

State police have identified Muzie Madonda as someone they want to question. He is 5' 11'', 155 pounds and was last seen driving a 1996 Chevy Astro van.

Police won't release how madonda might be connected to the death of a father and son, but NewsChannel 10 talked with friends of one of the two victims who helped fill in a lot of details about who the father and son were and what they were doing at that Tucumcari Inn when they died.

37-year-old Gabriel Baca and his dad 57-year-old Bobby Gonzales lived in room 128 until a worker found their bodies.

"Shocked, I didn't really believe it because they told me by text," friend Raul Rogriguez said.

Rodriguez was a co-worker of Gabriel's at the Loves on the edge of town. Gabriel mainly cleaned the trucker showers and kept other employee's cracking-up with his jokes.

"Hard worker, good guy. Got along with everybody," Rodriguez said.

Police haven't revealed how the men died or any other circumstances of the crime. But co-workers say Gabriel had called in to work the week before and other inn tenants were asked by the owner where the men were because the family's rent payment was late.

"I really don't know who would do this to him," Rodriguez said. "He wasn't a bad guy. I don't know why."
