Clovis offering child ID kits to parents

Clovis, NM - Police will take children's fingerprints and photos, ask them a few questions for voice recognition and identify them by height, weight and eye color.

The department doesn't keep the information, but rather gives parents a CD that contains it all.

The parents are asked to store it in a safe place in case the information is ever needed.

The program is part of the Clovis Police Department's community outreach effort.

Kits will be given to parents between noon and 4 p.m. on April 2 at the Clovis police substation at North Plains Mall.
