Amarillo, TX - Delta Airlines is departing Amarillo but United will be arriving at Rick Husband International Airport as soon as April.
Airport officials say they are disappointed with Delta's decision to discontinue service but add the renovations currently underway will bring more opportunities.
The multi-million dollar facility is set to be finished by early June. The director of aviation says the only destination lost with Delta's departure is Memphis. But more options are on the way.
"Additional flights from here to Denver when United starts service in early April as far as the expansion of the building we presently have 4 boarding bridges and this new one will have 6 plus a ground boarding gate so we have room for expansion and we have room for more carriers if those opportunities arise," said Director of Aviation Pat Rhodes.
