Amarillo, Texas - We now know the cause of the massive fire in the willow creek area in northern Potter County.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this fire. His name is Austin Stephens, he was taken into custody in the Willow Creek area, but has now bonded out of the Potter County jail.
Sheriff Brian Thomas says, "During the investigation it was determined that there was a man that was out on this property that was trespassing and was cutting some metal pipe or some kind of metal with a grinder and that is what actually started the fire."
Right now, Stephens is charged with criminal trespassing, since he was on someone else's property.
Authorities are not sure if other charges are coming... They say it will most likely be hard to charge him with arson since with arson, you have to prove intent and it's thought he set the fire accidentally.
