Pampa, Texas - You asked and he answered... We took some of your questions to US Congressman Mac Thornberry. Thornberry has been touring the Panhandle for the past few days... Stopping in several towns for his "Coffee with the Congressman" meetings.

We caught up with him on Friday in Pampa, for the last leg of his tour. On Facebook, we asked what you would like us to ask the congressman... Many of the responses were in reference to government spending and a possible government shut down.

Thornberry says the Republicans on capitol hill are working on a temporary bill that will keep the government open for the next two weeks, while both parties try to find a budget compromise.

"At the same time, we are also committed to not just keep on business as usual. We have to make changes. We have to cut spending. The debt and deficit is overwhelming us, much less our children. And so we have to make changes and we have to start now."

He also said those soaring gas prices are directly linked to the crisis in the Middle East, all the more reason, he says, the US government needs to keep a close eye on the situation and help the people in those countries, if need be.
