AMARILLO, TX - An international crackdown on Mexican drug cartels includes Amarillo.
One of the raids Thursday, took place just off the Canyon E-way. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement, Randall County Sheriff's Department and the Amarillo Police Department were all involved.
DEA officials tell NewsChannel 10, so far three arrests have been made in Amarillo. One person tonight faces felony drug charges. The other two are illegal aliens and have been turned over to ICE officials. Those three are just a small fraction of the dozens of international arrests today.
Internationally, more than 2 million dollars in US currency were seized, along with dozens of weapons, and hundreds of pounds of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana. The DEA expects the pool of seized assets to grow as they continue the crackdown into tomorrow to stop drug operations across the US, Central America, Colombia and Brazil.
