Amarillo, Texas - Winter weather is bringing booming business to auto repair shops across Amarillo because of vehicle damage caused by snow and ice.

One local body shop says their business has tripled since the last winter storm. The most common problems: front-end and bumper damage from wrecks caused by sliding on ice and getting stuck in the snow. These repairs can get pretty pricey.

Body shop owner Jimmy Fincher says, "We've had some of them in here that have $10,000 to $12,000 worth of damage, so it just all depends. A lot of these small ones we've been seeing $4,000 to $5,000 stuff because the parts have gotten so high, it doesn't take long for it to all add up."

A few more storms can be expected before winter ends. Fincher says to better protect your car in the next winter storm, avoid parking on the street if possible, and to drive slowly and with caution, in order to avoid the dangers ice can bring.
