Amarillo, Texas - An area business is the victim of a burglary in which the suspect stole thousands of dollars of freon.
This afternoon, Amarillo Police are searching for 53-year-old Antonio Avila, wanted out of Potter County for burglary of a building. Police say Avila came to a plumbing business on the 200 block of East Amarillo Boulevard during business hours.
According to the business, he stole multiple containers of freon from their warehouse, estimated at more than $3,000. Corporal Slover of the Amarillo Police Department says, "According to the report, he had stolen 23 bottles of different types of refrigerant used for air conditioning and things like that. It's our understanding that he just drove up during business hours. He must have been familiar with what was going on over there."
Slover says it is likely the suspect is re-selling the refrigerant. Avila is 5'9" tall and weighs 178 pounds. Police believe he is in the Amarillo area.
