Amarillo, TX - The man wounded during an officer involved shooting downtown this weekend, has died.

Claudio Trujillo reportedly suffered gunshot wounds, but investigators say they have yet to determine if Trujillo was struck by gunfire from the officers or by previous shots.

Officers say he was driving an SUV leaving the scene on the 800-block of Polk where original shots were reported to be fired.

Witnesses pointed out the SUV as being involved in the shooting.

Officers say they approached Trujillo telling him to stop the vehicle.

Investigators say he did not comply, and was coming towards them, so they fired shots.

"The basic information is that there were shots being fired before the officers arrived and then there were shots fired during the officer's contact with the vehicle and we don't know if one of the bullets that was fired by someone other than the officer had struck the vehicle," said Sgt. Brent Barbee.

Officers reportedly fired 40-rounds during the incident, and ten other shell casings were found at the scene.

There was no gun found in Trujillo's SUV.

One handgun has been recovered, which belongs to Michael Manyoun, the sole person arrested at this time.

Manyoun is in custody on a charge of deadly conduct by a discharge of a firearm, which is a third degree felony.
