Parking in handicapped spots illegally becomes criminal

Amarillo, TX - Starting the first of February, if you park in the wrong space, it's going to cost you more than ever before, and it will go on your criminal record.

Texas is cracking down on drivers who illegally park in a handicapped spot.

If you park in a disabled spot, block a spot or falsely use a disabled permit, the fines will jump from $255 dollars to $511.

And, it's no longer just a civil citation, it's criminal.

If you're caught doing it more than once, the fines will increase and you could end up doing community service.
