Amarillo man in custody following SWAT incident

Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo man is in police custody on felony assault charges after police attempted to serve an outstanding warrant.

The Amarillo Police Department SWAT team was called to the 400-block of South Forest around two Tuesday afternoon, when reports were made that Michael Anthony Jimenez was inside the home.

Police say, Jimenez was wanted on a felony charge of assault-causing bodily injury, against a family member.

Police also say he's known to carry a weapon.

Jimenez came out of the house about an hour after the SWAT team arrived.

He has been booked into the Potter County Correction Center.
