Amarillo City Commission approves new downtown light fixtures

Amarillo, TX - Amarillo will spend more than 250,000 dollars on controversial light fixtures for downtown.

The city commission approved that move late Tuesday afternoon.

The pedestrian lights are up to the new downtown design standards code, and will be sold to interested property owners for almost 4,000 dollars a piece.

Opponents to the downtown design standards say the fixtures are too costly for individuals to buy them.
