Clovis Murder Conviction

Clovis, New Mexico -  35-year-old man is convicted of murder in Clovis... For the second time.

Jurors convicted Robert "Pelon" Macias of first degree murder in the January 2006 shooting death of Wilfred Salas Jr. Macias was originally convicted in 2007, but the New Mexico Supreme Court overturned the verdict in 2009, ruling the judge in the trial made a mistake when he allowed a jail house phone call, to be played for jurors.

A sentencing date has not yet been set. District Attorney Matt Chandler says he will seek the maximum sentence of life in prison.
