Amarillo,TX/For the past 27 years the Tri- State Chili Open Cook Off has been benefiting the Texas Plains Make A Wish Foundation.
Over 1,000 tasting cups were gone with in 20 minuets as the major cook off of the year started up."It was a wonderful turnout today." said Participant David Waddle
100 exhibitors were on hand to see who could take the heat in the kitchen. From secret ingredients to hot or sweet , its all to make a sick child's wish come true.
"The money we raise all thorough out the year stays in the Texas Panhandle. We serve the top 55 counties in the Panhandle that's a lot of ground to cover over the next year, we depend on this to help us."says Megan Szydloski, Texas Plains Make A Wish
According to Vicki Childers Executive Director of the cook off "Money for these wishes is around eight thousand dollars to grant for the kids."
The cook off last year brought in 10,000 for the non profit.
