Pampa, TX- Texas State Representative Warren Chisum is doing his best to narrow down the candidates for the Republican nominee for the Speaker of the House.

Warren Chisum announced this week that he has collected all of the signatures needed to force a Republican caucus to find the next speaker of the Texas house.

At this point there are three Republican candidates for speaker of the house: Ken Paxton, Warren Chisum, and the current speaker Joe Strauss.

The caucus will now get together to select one of the candidates for Speaker of the House.

"We've talked about it for along time, the Republicans Executive Committee of the state of Texas requested that we do this, so if we're going to be Republicans we're going to act like Republicans and have a meeting," said Warren Chisum.

Chisum says doing the caucus before the legislative session begins will help to ensure the first order of business of selecting a speaker will be done.

The caucus is planned for January 5th of 2011.  The legislative session begins January 11th.
