U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry was nominated to serve as the Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

He has been asked to lead an initiative on cyber-security, in light of recent information leaks.

As part of his role he will serve as chairman of the Terrorism, Capabilities, and Unconventional Threats Subcommittee.

The House Republican Steering Committee will vote to confirm Thornberry later this week.
