PERRYTON, TX - An area theft strips thousands of dollars worth of Christmas gifts from children in need.
We're told early Wednesday morning, a grinch broke into a Perryton toy giving charity and stole nearly three quarters of the toys the organization had collected over the year for area children. The stolen teddy bears, bicycles and remote control cars have an estimated value of 8 thousand dollars.
The toys were slated to be handed out just a few days before Christmas. Last year, the organization was responsible for giving Christmas, to more than 350 Perryton children. With this recent theft, the organization is way behind their mission goals.
"I'm physically sick. As soon as I saw the front door open, I thought Houston we have a problem. I came in, there was stuff all over the floor. The back door had been kicked in." said Coordinator, Joann McCoy.
If you would like to help the organization replace the items stolen, they are accepting donations. You can call the Season's Assisted Living Home in Perryton to arrange your donation drop off. Their number is (806) 648-1884.
