Hereford murder case dismissed

Amarillo, Texas - The murder case against a Hereford teenager has been dismissed by the judge.

The Deaf Smith County District Attorney says the judge determined the state did not present enough evidence that Damien Rodriguez was guilty.

Rodriguez did plead guilty Wednesday on a felony charge of tampering with evidence for which he received six years probation.

The prosecution had maintained Rodriguez helped kill Lucia Guarjardo last summer.

A jury already convicted Guarjardo's granddaughter of the stabbing death in June.
