CLOVIS, NM--- The Eastern New Mexico food bank is hoping to get more help in providing more food for the area's hungry.

Every month, this food bank serves tens of thousands of hungry area residents on the New Mexico and Texas border.

However, the organization says it would help even more, if it could get help to buy a new refrigeration system.

Administrators tell us, they are currently using hand me down refrigerators and a few walk-ins. One that dates back to 1977.

"At this point, we have to turn down frozen product.  We don't have enough room.  There is no other facility in this area where we can store frozen food." said Executive Director, Nancy Taylor.

Not only is there not enough space, but each month, the food bank has to take money that could be used on food and use it for maintenance on the old fridges.

Recently, the Eastern New Mexico food bank was promised a $150, 000 donation, but its a challenge grant, and those funds need to be matched by December 1st.  The organization is seeking donations from anyone who is willing to help.  Director Taylor asks that those donating specify their gift is for the challenge grant.
