Amarillo, TX - An investigation continues after an Amarillo woman is found dead in a local parking lot, after being run over by a car.
Amarillo police responded to west 15th and South Georgia at around 4:10 am on reports of a woman laying in a parking lot. Daisy Strout, 26, was pronounced dead on scene, but the investigation is still ongoing.
Daisy Strout had dreams of being a model, but those dreams came to an end just days before her 27th birthday.
At first, investigators thought she was a victim of a hit-and-run ... But shortly after her body was found, they came to a different conclusion.
"It appeared the woman had been run over but at a slow pace and usually when we have fatalities and they are hit in the parking lot they are hit hard or at a higher rate of speed," Special Crimes Lt. Gary Trupe said, "It was obvious from what we were seeing was that Daisy Strout was not struck at a high rate of speed."
"There was no reason for Daisy to be where she was at far as we can tell from friends and family there was nobody she knew around there so we're a little bit suspicious to what took place and what may had happened to Daisy," Lt. Trupe said.
Police are asking anyone who knows any information about this incident to call the Special Crimes Unit at 378-9468 or Crime Stoppers that number is 374-4400.
