Search on for missing American in border lake

ZAPATA, Texas (AP) — Mexican authorities say they began searching the border lake Wednesday where an American tourist was reportedly shot and killed, and have resumed Thursday.

Ruben Rios, spokesman for Tamaulipas state prosecutors, said the search was suspended at 5 p.m. on Wednesday because of bad weather conditions and was resumed Thursday morning.

Rios says authorities have beeen looking by air and in the lake, but he says, "so far they have found nothing."

The Mexican Foreign Ministry said Wednesday they have been coordinating a search "from the first moment" that Tiffany Hartley reported Mexican pirates shot and kiled her husband as they were riding Jet Skis across Falcon Lake, which straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, last week. But Rios's comment suggests the search didn't begin until Texas Gov. Rick Perry called Mexican authorities late Tuesday to demand more action.
