Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico - The Air Force has scheduled a series of meetings to scope public reaction on low-altitude training flights over northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.
Two hearings are scheduled on Oct. 14 in Santa Fe and Taos. Two more are scheduled in Raton and Las Vegas.
The proposed flights would involve aircraft flying as low as 200 feet above the ground.
Already cities are voicing opposition.
Taos town councilors approved a resolution that says such flights would bring noise pollution, emissions pollution and vibrations that could harm historic adobe structures, particularly in nearby Taos Pueblo.
