Mixon's journey will cover roughly 2,500 miles.

He has already biked 1,500 miles.

He reached Amarillo last night after biking from Shamrock.

Mixon Believes in the importance of children being the future and said "I thought if I took on youth literacy as a cause to expose awareness would be a good thing. Couple that is childhood obesity. So the slogan for the ride is we want healthier smarter children."

Along his journey Mixon has run into some obstacles including fatigue and flat tires but also some unexpected problems.

Mixon Said "There have been 16 dog chases. So the dogs in the Midwest like to run. Luckily I haven't been caught yet and I haven't had to use my pepper mace."

Mixon will head to New Mexico Sunday morning.

He hopes to raise 100 dollars for every mile and has a goal in mind to raise
