Shooting due to recklessness

Amarillo, Texas - Amarillo police say the cause of a shooting Sunday near Amarillo Boulevard appears to be the reckless handling of a firearm.

Three Amarillo men are behind bars in connection with the incident. Shortly after noon officers responded to a report of a shooting near the Boulevard and Hayes Street.

17 year old Tyus Crain was shot in the back. He was admitted to the hospital with a non- life threatening gunshot wound.

Police say subsequent searches of a vehicle and a house revealed weapons and narcotics.

A juvenile was booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains. 22-year-old Ja'rome Patterson was booked into the Potter County jail for possession of a stolen firearm. 30-year-old Fabian Mcghee was booked into jail on an unrelated warrant for violation of probation.
