Amarillo, TX - On the 9th Anniversary of September 11th, hundreds of people from our community gathered to honor those who lost their lives in the terror attack that day. Dozens of fire firefighters, police officers, and all other emergency responders gathered at City Hall to honor the thousands that died 9 years ago.

"It tends to die out," AFD Captain Bob Johnson, "Its things like this that bring it back up in to the for front."

The AFD provided a 21-gun salute following the ringing of the 555 to honor the 343 firefighters who died. The APD gave the 10-42 salute in remembrance of the 60 police officers who were killed. This gave residents an opportunity to salute the fallen emergency responders and to remember their sacrifice.

"Remembrance ceremony and really that's the thing we don't want people forget," Johnson said, "What happened on that day and forget the sacrifices that they made."

"It's in our memories its in our minds but it needs to continue to remember," America Supports You Board of Directors, Alicia Harmon, "Honor those who lost their lives and those who are still working for that freedom that we enjoy."
