AMARILLO, TX - A non-profit organization geared towards making thousands of children active in team sports makes a big announcement Wednesday regarding a move from their location on 27th and Osage.

An undisclosed business has made an offer to Kids Inc. for their warehouse and main office space in East Amarillo.

Right now, the two are negotiating a price tag. If the deal goes through,  Kids, Inc. hopes to build a brand new multi-use facility. The building could host expanded programs of the 65-year-old organization.

The board says they need to really evaluate how financially feasible a ground breaking move like this actually is.

"We don't want it to affect program fees.  We don't want an increase in the services families pay for. The last thing we want to do is build a brand new facility and then charge more money to use it. That is not the case." President Jimmy Lackey tells NewsChannel 10.

Another option for the program is to buy another warehouse and office space.  However, Board members say a complex has been a dream for the non-profit for nearly years.

Whether a child plays football, soccer or cheer leads, administrators tell us, they are dedicated to keeping those services for thousands of area kids.

Administrators stress, the Sell does not mean in anyway that the organization is in financial trouble. They just want to expand programming without going into debt.
