Flooding Prompts Shelter Seekers in Central Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The American Red Cross says flooding from the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine has prompted dozens to seek shelter in central Texas.

Red Cross of Central Texas CEO Marty McKellips said Wednesday that about 40 people have sought shelters in Georgetown, Round Rock and Florence, just north of Austin. He said at least 20 more were expected to arrive later in the day.

Flood warnings have been posted throughout central and north Texas after the remnants of the storm dumped several inches of rain across a large swath of the state.

Authorities say they are searching for possible victims after two mobile homes and a house in central Texas were swept away.
