Amarillo, TX--An area school is changing its safety protocols after a kindergartner went home with the wrong person.

Five-year-old Marionah Ramierz's family says she normally looks just like this smiling, outgoing and a bundle of energy.

But on Monday, the kindergartner was full of tears.

"My daughter looks kinda scared right now, so I don't know what they told her, what they did to her or anything, " Emily Ramirez, Marionah's mother said.

When she went to pick Marionah up from school Monday afternoon, her daughter wasn't there.

Teachers told her Marionna had already left with someone else and they didn't know who it was.

After about 30 minutes of searching and calling in the police, a family member found the five-year-old standing alone in her front yard.

The girl says she is fine, but can't identify who took her - only saying the person was a friend in a red car who stopped off at this dollar general before taking her home.

"Today a mistake happened so we're going to find, take action and correct that mistake immediately because student safety is our top priority, " Kim Bentley, Tradewind Principal said.

Bentley also says their security policies are a lot like other Amarillo schools, and they've never had any problems with parent pick ups or drop off's before.

But the principal vows to do anything necessary to keep something like this from happening again.
