WTAMU Helping Students Teachers Dress for Success.

Canyon, TX--Student loans,and new school surroundings are just two of the things which can be overwhelming to a new student teacher and teachers trying to get their first job. So knowing how to dress professional may take a back seat.

Dr. Nancy Cartwright saw a need for education majors who were going out into the field to make sure they were dressed for their job."It sneaks up on them, so many things to think about, they have so much they are trying to accomplish , the idea or worrying about your clothes is the last thing on their minds,"Cartwright said.

She met with other facility told them her concerns, within the week people started bringing pressed slacks, ties, jackets. The type of clothing that new teachers would need to dress successfully.

The "Buff Boutique and Haberdashery" is free for WT and Amarillo ISD student teachers and new teachers to come in and find that blouse or jacket they need to look the part.

The Boutique and Haberdashery is located on the 7th floor of the WT campus in the Chase Tower. There will be a volunteer day on September 9th. If you would like to donate clean, pressed professional clothing for these student teachers please e-mail Dr. Cartwright  ncartwright@wtamu.edu.

    The Potter County Grand Jury will not recommend charges against two Amarillo police officers involved in the shooting death of a man this past June. On June 27th, Officers Bryan Gaitan and Michael Wheeler responded to a trespassing call at an apartment complex on South Nelson Street.
