Amarillo, TX - Democrat Bill White, who is hoping to unseat incumbent Rick Perry for Texas Governor made a campaign stop in Amarillo today.

Bill White is locked in a heated battle for Texas governor with Rick Perry.

The latest Rasmussen telephone survey shows Perry with 50 percent support and White with 41 percent of the vote.

White reached out to potential voters during an event at Memorial Park in Amarillo.

He talked about what changes he hopes to bring to Texas if elected Governor.

"We got to cut out the drop out rate. Make college education more affordable. We got to have people representing the public. The insurance board, the utility board and bring down these skyrocketing insurance costs."

During his visit to Amarillo, White gained endorsements from former Mayor Glen Parkey and others.

Earlier in the day, White stopped in Perry's hometown of Haskell County and met with local leaders. He is now heading back home to Houston to rest for a day.

Then it's back on the campaign trail Monday in Laredo.

Texans will head to the polls on November second to cast their ballots in the race for governor.
